Territory Managers

Job DESCRIPTION:

Mercari is a full-service cannabis agency that helps Canadian brands navigate legalization. From sourcing exotic genetics to representing the most premium cannabis products across Canada, Mercari has a solution for your business.

The Territory Manager will be responsible for the education and advocacy for the cannabis categories of concentrates, edibles, vapes, beverages, topicals, and dried flower with retailers and consumers within the adult-use market on behalf of our suppliers. By maintaining on-going relationships with retailers this position will look to increase sales volume, increase market share and brand awareness at the consumer level, develop key partnerships, activations, and events while working within a budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the National Territory Sales Management Team to establish and execute sales targets and marketing goals for the assigned region;

  • Work collaboratively with the Sales Director, Mercari Marketing Coordinator, and Brand Ambassadors to meet client needs;

  • Build events and activity in order to help increase brand awareness and sales

  • Explore the consumer occasions that transcend these key categories and initiate activity that elevates them in the customer and consumer's minds

  • Develop specific plans to ensure growth both in the long and short-term

  • Educate retailers and consumers through sales and marketing initiatives, programs, in-store and online engagements to increase brand awareness;

  • Understand and comply with federal and provincial cannabis regulations while remaining up-to-date and educated on changing regulatory conditions (municipal, provincial and federal) as they relate to the assigned territory;

  • Effectively manage the assigned territory, ensuring all administrative records, budget and information is current and up to date;

  • Visit various suppliers and retailers within the assigned territory on a regular basis to:

  • Maintain strong relationships

  • Identify new opportunities to activate cannabis brands within retail environments

  • Build a partnership with retailers to maximize distribution and visibility on behalf of clients

  • Gather inventory, product, service, and industry feedback

  • Maintain full working knowledge of client brand(s), activity, history, and products;

  • Work with other Territory Managers to challenge and identify new opportunities;

  • Keep abreast of competitor trends and report appropriate developments;

  • Ensure expenses and reports are completed and delivered on time;

  • Ensure agreed activity at Head Office is translated into strong execution plans;

  • Balance the personal digital opportunities with the needs of Mercari and our suppliers;

  • Share knowledge and best practices with fellow teammates and departments;

  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Experience in the cannabis industry

  • Must be at least 19 years of age

  • Proven leadership qualities and habits

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to react and contribute to a changing environment

  • Ability to pivot constructively when faced with unplanned challenges

  • Selling It Right, CanSell/SellSafe and/or CannaReps training mandatory

  • A clear understanding of legal engagement with respect to cannabis and what the consequences are for non-compliance

  • 5+ years related sales experience, key account experience preferred

  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail

  • Expert knowledge on cannabis and diverse product categories

  • Strong knowledge of sales processes as well as cross-functional exposure to other company business operations (such as logistics, inventory management, marketing, accounting, supply chain, etc.)

  • Alcohol beverage experience at a high level is preferable but not mandatory

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver abstract with access to a reliable vehicle

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, changing, and growing environment

  • Manual dexterity for the operation of a computer

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to travel extensively through assigned territory

  • Manage multiple relationships across the cannabis supply chain

  • Work as a collaborative team member with our diverse and high performing sales team

  • Some heavy lifting of up to 50lbs

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Weekends as needed

Brand Ambassadors

Mercari Agency is looking for an energetic, driven and knowledgeable Brand Ambassadors for various cannabis pop ups across Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Brand Ambassadors must be passionate about cannabis, as well as certified to work in their province.

Mercari Brand Ambassadors will help support our reps in the field and collaborate with them to achieve our client’s goals. You are a reliable and driven teammate that is eager to wear many different hats to bring an idea to life. As an intuitive problem solver, you are able to react quickly and also anticipate issues before they arise with calmness and ease.

  • Activate cannabis brands at events & activity in order to help increase awareness & sales in these markets

  • Coordinate with our Sales Manager to plan events

  • Collect materials, set up and tear down of activations

  • Connect with people to educate and engage them

  • Compile and keep track of metrics

  • Deliver feedback and ideas on how to improve engagements

  • Maintain relationships with budtenders, managers, and other retail employees

  • Be a positive advocate for Mercari brands and clients by acquiring a strong familiarity with their products, mission and values

  • Able to pivot and adapt quickly in a fast-paced changing environment 

  • Able to travel as well as work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Travel outside of territory is covered.

Requirements:

  • CanSell, SellSafe and / or CannaReps training mandatory 

  • Must be at least 19 years of age

  • Valid and clean driver’s licence

  • Own/lease a reliable vehicle with an active insurance policy

  • Experience in the cannabis industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Cannabis customer service and/or hospitality experience

  • Punctuality and reliability

  • Must be able to learn, retain and convey information about company products with confidence 

  • Comfortable with large crowds and engaging with diverse clientele

  • Familiar with popular social media platforms

  • Able to travel as well as work evenings and weekends as needed
